Professor Peng-Sheng Wei

National Sun Yat-Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Dr. Peng-Sheng Wei received Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering Department at University of California, Davis, in 1984. He has been a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Engineering of National Sun Yat-Sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, China, since 1989. Dr. Wei has contributed to advancing understanding of and to the applications of electron and laser beam, plasma, and resistance welding through theoretical analyses coupled with verification experiments. Investigations also include studies of their thermal and fluid flow processes, and formations of the defects such as humping, rippling, spiking and porosity. Dr. Wei has published more than 70 journal papers. He is a Fellow of AWS (2007), and a Fellow of ASME (2000). He also received the Outstanding Research Achievement Awards from both the National Science Council (2004), and NSYSU (1991, 2001, 2004), the Outstanding Scholar Research Project Winner Award from National Science Council (2008), the Adams Memorial Membership Award from AWS (2008), the Warren F. Savage Memorial Award from AWS (2012), and the William Irrgang Memorial Award from AWS (2014). He has been the Xi-Wan Chair Professor of NSYSU since 2009.

Professor Kung-Chung Hsu

National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan

Dr. Kung-Chung Hsu received Ph.D. in Department of Chemical Engineering at The Penn State University, in 1985. He worked as a senior scientist in the R & D Department of China Steel Corp. in 1985-1990. He was an Associated Professor in 1990-1996, and has been a professor in the Department of Chemistry of National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei, Taiwan, since 1996. Dr. Hsu has research interests in (1) preparation and application of dispersing agents in ceramic materials, (2) preparation and development of superplasticizer and self-curing agents in concrete, and (3) preparation and application of nano powder and graphene/polymer composites. So far he has published more than 40 SCI papers and obtained over 20 patents.

Associate Professor Huang Weimin

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Speech Title: Advanced shape memory technology to reshape product design, manufacturing and repairing/recycling: recent development

Dr Wei Min Huang is currently an Associate Professor (tenured) at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. With over 20 years of experience on various shape memory materials (alloy, polymer, composite and hybrid), he has published over 180 papers in journals, such as Accounts of Chemical Research, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, and Materials Today, and has been invited to review manuscripts from over 230 international journals (including Progress in Polymer Science, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and Advanced functional materials, etc), project proposals from American Chemical Society, Hong Kong Research Grants Council, etc, and book proposals from Springer, Elsevier and CRC. He has published two books (Thin film shape memory alloys – fundamentals and device applications, Polyurethane shape memory polymers) and is currently on the editorial board of over three dozens of journals.

Professor Han-Yong Jeon

Inha University, Korea

Speech Title: Review of Nanotechnology Application to Improve Adsorption Performance and Pore Permeability Analysis of Nonwoven Geotextiles

Prof. Han-Yong Jeon, geosynthetics/technical organic materials researcher and he was the 32nd President of Korean Fiber Society (2014~2015). He has published more than 895 proceedings in domestic and international conferences. He wrote 24 texts including ''Review of Long-Term Durable Creep Performance of Geosynthetics by Constitutive Equations of Reduction Factors(Intech Open), ISBN 978-953-51-3724-5, IntechOpen, (2018)’ and also published 160 papers and 912 proceedings in domestic & international journals and conferences. He has awards of Marquis Who'sWho-Science and Engineering in 2003~2018 and “Top 100 Scientists in the World” of 2005/2011/2013 by IBC(International Biographical Centre, UK). Also, he got the 33rd Academy Award of Korean Fiber Society in 2006 and “Excellent Paper Award of 2012” by The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies.

Professor Philippe A. OLIVIER

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering obtained from Paul Sabatier University Toulouse 3 in 1994. Ph.D. dissertation title “Study of process-induced stresses in carbon/epoxy laminated in connection with cure-cycles” . Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches (HDR) obtained from Paul Sabatier University Toulouse 3 in 2005. HDR dissertation title : «High performances composite materials manufacturing: from constituents to structural part ». Professor at Paul Sabatier University (http://www.univ-tlse3.fr/), University of Toulouse (http://www.univ-toulouse.fr/) since 2008. Head of Clément ADER Institute UMR CNRS 5312 (joint research unit with 92 permanent researchers and more than 110 Ph.D. students) (http://www.institut-clement-ader.org/) since 2013. Member of the executive committee of the European Society for Composite Material (http://www.escm.eu.org/index.php) 2010-2018. Member of the admiration board of Association pour les Matériaux Composites (AMAC – French society for composite materials - http://www.amac-composites.org/) since 1999. Currently vice-president.


Professor Yoshitaka Fujimoto

Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan

Speech Title: First-principles theoretical design of graphene-based sensor applications

Dr. Yoshitaka Fujimoto received his Ph.D. degree in Engineering from Osaka University, Japan. After receiving his Ph. D., he worked at Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo, and at Center for Computational Sciences, University of Tsukuba. In 2009, he joined Department of Physics, Tokyo Institute of Technology as an Assistant Professor. His research interests include formations and electronic properties of lattice defects in surfaces and interfaces of semiconductor hetero-systems and atomic-layered materials such as graphene and h-boron-nitrides. He has published over 50 technical articles in peer-reviewed journals, reviews, book, book chapters, etc. and has served as referee of many international journals, organizer and committee in conferences.

Associate Professor Dr. Aidah Jumahat

Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia

Speech Title: Characterisation of Nanoparticles filled Fibre Composite Laminates

Jumahat A is an Associate Professor of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia. She has been giving lectures on Composite Materials, Finite Element Method, Mechanics of Materials, Manufacturing Processes, Mechanical Engineering Design and Advanced Materials, which happens to be her areas of research interest, since 2001. She also currently serves as Director of Community of Research for Frontier Materials and Industrial Applications at the Deputy Vice Chancellor Office UiTM since 2016. She received her MSc degree (2002) and B.Eng. (Hons.) degree in Mechanical and Materials Engineering (1999) from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She received her Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sheffield United Kingdom in 2011. She has published more than 200 technical papers in journals, chapters in book and conference proceedings locally and internationally in materials and mechanical engineering research areas.

Dr. Zuraidah binti Salleh

Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia

Speech Title: Post-Impact and Open Hole Tensile Behaviour of Natural Fibre Composites

Dr Zuraidah Salleh is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia. She is also serves as the Head of Centre of Advanced Materials Research UiTM since 2016. Her main research areas include characterization of natural fibre composites, post impact properties, welding of metals and failure analysis of materials. She has been giving lectures on Statics, Advanced Mechanics of Materials and Mechanical Engineering Design since 2004. She received her Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1995. Then she received her B.Eng. (Hons.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Institut Teknologi MARA in 1998. In 2003 she received her MSc degree in Materials Engineering from the Universiti Sains Malaysia. She received her PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2015. She has published more than 60 technical papers in journals, chapters in book and conference proceedings locally and internationally in the research area of advanced materials and mechanical engineering.
